The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identities of two men who died after a jet-ski incident near Richmond on Aug. 27, 2015.
They were Ramanjit Bachra, aged 56, and Salinder Burmy, also aged 56, both of Richmond.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Aug. 27, a commercial vessel spotted a jet-ski adrift in the south arm of the Fraser River with two males nearby, both unresponsive. The vessel’s crew notified authorities.
A Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft responded and was able to remove the two from the water and take them to a landing point near the intersection of #4 Road and the dyke in Richmond. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this case.
The families of both men have been notified of their deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
