The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a motorcycle incident on the Malahat Highway on Aug. 30, 2015.

He is Todd Donald Smith, aged 40, of Victoria.

Mr. Smith was the operator of a motorcycle that was heading northbound on the Trans Canada Highway over the Malahat on Aug. 30 when at about 8:30 p.m., about two kilometres north of Aspen Road, it collided with a pickup truck towing a travel-trailer. Mr. Smith was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Smith has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
