The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a boating incident near Squamish on Sept. 4, 2015.
He was Steven Munro, aged 67, of Squamish.
Mr. Munro owned a wooden sailboat that was moored across Mamquam Blind Channel from downtown Squamish. He used a skiff to get back and forth from town to the boat. On the morning of Sept. 4, Mr. Munro was found floating, deceased, in the waters of the channel near the Squamish Yacht Club. The skiff was found overturned downstream.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP are continuing to investigate this death.
Mr. Munro’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
