The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motor vehicle incident in Merritt on Aug. 31, 2015.

He was Jesse Dan Dietz, aged 32, of Surrey.

Mr. Dietz was a passenger in a pickup truck that, while travelling on Highway 5 in Merritt, left the travelled portion of the roadway and hit a rock bluff shortly after 8 a.m. on Aug. 31. Mr. Dietz was rushed to Nicola Valley General Hospital in Merritt, but succumbed to his injuries soon after arrival at hospital.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

Mr. Dietz’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
