The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a cliff-jumping incident in Lynn Canyon in North Vancouver on Sept. 11, 2015.

He was Syed Wajahat Ali, aged 25, of Coquitlam.

Mr. Ali and some friends were cliff-jumping into the pools under the Lynn Canyon suspension bridge on the afternoon of Sept. 11, 2015. After jumping into the pool, Mr. Ali was seen to be struggling and then disappeared under the water.

He was recovered, deceased, the next day by the RCMP Dive Team in the general area of where he was last seen.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP are continuing to investigate this death.

Mr. Ali’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
