The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motor vehicle incident near Sorrento on Nov. 4, 2015.

He is Andrej Schmiegel, aged 60, of Sorrento, a small community on the south shore of Shuswap Lake.

Mr. Schmiegel was the driver and sole occupant of a pickup truck left the road and struck a tree on Notch Hill Road near McKenzie Road just south of Sorrento at about 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 4. Mr. Schmiegel was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

Mr. Schmiegel’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
