The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motor vehicle incident in Surrey on Dec. 5, 2015.

He is Mbasuva Muukua, aged 26, a resident of Surrey.

Mr. Muukua was a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on King George Boulevard near 126th Street in the late evening hours of Dec. 5, 2015. He was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital, but succumbed there to his injuries. The vehicle did not remain at the scene of the incident.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

Mr. Muukua’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service invites the media to phone Mr. Muukua’s sister, Rico Lubansa, at 647 667-5469 for family comment if they wish to do so.
