The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who died after a snowmobile incident near Revelstoke on Dec. 5, 2015.
He was Travis Allen Brown, aged 42, from Drayton Valley, Alberta, a town in central Alberta about 130 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
Mr. Brown was operating a snowmobile on Boulder Mountain, about 22 kilometres southwest of Revelstoke on Dec. 5, 2015. The next morning the parking lot attendant for the area noticed that Mr. Brown’s vehicle was still in the parking lot. Apparently, the owner had not returned from the trails. A search was started the next day, but over the next three days was unsuccessful.
On Dec. 10, 2015, when the mountain had been reopened to snowmobilers, a group found Mr. Brown near his machine in a remote area off the main trail. He was deceased at the scene. No avalanches had occurred in the area.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
Mr. Brown’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
