In her speech from the throne today, Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon outlined the government’s agenda to create jobs and opportunity throughout British Columbia - growing a diverse economy to fund vital public services.
In the session ahead, government will continue to build on its progress implementing the BC Jobs Plan under which more than 70,000 new jobs have been created since 2011.
By focusing on key sectors of the economy and further growing British Columbia’s trading relationships in the Asia-Pacific region, the government will remain on a steady course toward a strong economy that delivers prosperity for future generations.
“British Columbia is blessed with a strong, diverse economy, a balanced budget and public services that are the envy of the world,” said Premier Christy Clark. “We will continue to focus on getting to ’yes’ on economic development, seizing B.C.’s LNG opportunity and protecting taxpayers by controlling spending.”
During the spring session, government will also build on its success forging strong relationships with First Nations and communities throughout B.C., reducing unnecessary red tape, and investing in skills training to put B.C. workers first in line for new jobs.
