Premier Christy Clark has issued the following statement on the death of Kirby Tott:
“Today, British Columbia lost one of our most dedicated citizens. He was a public servant in every sense of the word. Well respected by his peers, he constantly went above and beyond the call of duty.
“For the past four years, Kirby served as a correctional officer at Prince George Regional Correctional Centre, but his commitment to service did not end there. He chose to join the Canadian Forces Reserves, and took leave to train and serve in the military.
“As the flag flies half-mast at the correctional centre today, we grieve the loss of a devoted officer who was taken from us too soon. He represented Canada and British Columbia at our very best.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Kirby’s family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.”
