The Evergreen Line celebrated a milestone this week with the installation of the last segment of its elevated guideway on Pinetree Way in the City of Coquitlam.
Since construction began on the elevated guideway, 1,005 segments have been installed, including 618 along Clarke Rd. and North Rd. and 387 along Pinetree Way.
The Evergreen Line project is now 60% complete and is scheduled to open in fall 2016. Construction is progressing on all aspects of the project:
- The elevated guideway is complete on Clarke Rd., North Rd. and on Pinetree Way.
- The at-grade guideway is complete in Port Moody.
- Station construction is well underway.
- The bored tunnel is 50% complete.
The Evergreen Line will connect the communities of Port Moody, Coquitlam and Burnaby for the first time through rapid transit, with a direct connection to the existing Millennium Line.
When the Evergreen Line opens, Metro Vancouver’s SkyTrain system will become the longest automated rapid transit system in Canada.
