The $7.6-million project to replace joints and bearings on the Lions Gate Bridge north approach viaduct is now complete and residents in the area should notice traffic crossing the bridge is much quieter as a result of these upgrades.
Twenty-five joints and 40 bearings have been replaced or eliminated as part of necessary rehabilitation work on the elevated roadway connecting Marine Drive to the suspension bridge. At the same time, the sidewalk was resurfaced to provide a smoother travelling surface to increase safety for cyclists and pedestrians. The ministry would like to thank local residents and businesses for their co-operation and patience throughout the duration of the construction.
