PRINCETON - Work will begin shortly on the highway realignment project to improve safety between Sunday Creek and Sunday Summit on Highway 3.

The project, located approximately 30 kilometres west of Princeton, involves straightening 5 kilometres of highway, extending the westbound Sunday Summit passing lane and extending the newly created eastbound Saturday Creek passing lane. When complete, the project will help reduce collisions, create safer passing opportunities, and improve traffic flow on this section of Highway 3.

A $12.58-million contract has been awarded to Emil Anderson Construction (EAC) Inc. of Kelowna. Construction will begin in June 2015 with completion expected in fall 2016.

During construction, drivers are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to check www.DriveBC.ca for current conditions.

• This $27.65-million project is a result of the funding partnership between the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia that was announced in Princeton on April 8, 2015.
• The Government of Canada is setting aside up to $10,342,500 through the Building Canada Fund - Major Infrastructure Component for this project. This funding is conditional on the project meeting applicable federal eligibility requirements with respect to the Building Canada Fund and the signing of a contribution agreement.

Début de la construction des plus récents travaux d’amélioration de la sécurité sur la route 3

Les travaux de reconfiguration du tracé de la route 3 visant à accroître la sécurité entre Sunday Creek et Sunday Summit commenceront bientôt.

Un contrat d’une valeur de 12,58 millions de dollars a été octroyé à la société Emil Anderson Construction (EAC) Inc. de Kelowna. Les travaux de construction débuteront en juin 2015 et devraient se terminer à l’automne 2016.

Le projet, situé à environ 30 kilomètres à l’Ouest de Princeton, comprend l’élimination de courbes dans un tronçon de 5 kilomètres de la route ainsi que la prolongation de la voie de dépassement en direction Ouest à la hauteur de Sunday Summit et de la voie de dépassement en direction Est nouvellement construite à la hauteur de Saturday Creek. Une fois terminés, les travaux permettront de réduire les risques de collisions, rendront les dépassements plus sécuritaires et amélioreront la circulation sur ce tronçon de la route 3.

• Ce projet de 27,65 millions de dollars fait suite à l’entente de partenariat en matière de financement conclue entre le gouvernement du Canada et la province de la Colombie-Britannique, dont on a fait l’annonce à Princeton, le 8 avril 2015.
• Le gouvernement du Canada réserve un financement pouvant atteindre 10 342 500 $, aux termes du volet Grandes infrastructures du Fonds Chantiers Canada, pour ce projet. Ce financement est conditionnel au respect, dans le cadre du projet, de l'ensemble des exigences fédérales applicables en matière d'admissibilité en ce qui concerne le Fonds Chantiers Canada, ainsi qu'à la signature d'une entente de contribution.
• La province de la Colombie-Britannique fournira les fonds restants (17 307 500 $).
• Ces travaux d’amélioration s’inscrivent dans le cadre de l’initiative provinciale « B.C. on the Move », qui consiste en un plan de dix ans visant l’amélioration du réseau de transport de la province.
