Dewdney Slough Bridge, located 8 km east of Mission on Highway 7, reopened to single lane alternating traffic at 5 a.m. today in time for commuter and school bus traffic.
Crews have been working around the clock to replace one of the steel caps that supports the concrete bridge deck and reopen the bridge as quickly as possible. The bridge was jacked up to re-align the deck and the damaged cap has now been replaced. Work continues to proactively reinforce the remaining pile caps.
While the bridge is open to single lane alternating traffic, motorists can expect minor delays. A 30 km/h speed zone is in effect as well as a 17,000 kg GVW load restriction. Drivers with loads exceeding this weight may detour along Highway 1, using either Highway 11 via Mission from the west or Highway 9 via Agassiz from the east. The ministry is working to fully reopen the bridge to two lanes and legal load limits by the end of the week.

The ministry would like to take this opportunity to thank local residents for their patience while the work is in progress as well as for the support and generosity they have shown to the construction crews.
