Improvements to Highway 97D between Logan Lake and the interchange at Highway 5 have been completed, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone announced today.
Highway 97D was resurfaced from the interchange at Highway 5 to Galena Avenue in Logan Lake, a distance of more than 20 kilometres. Where possible, the shoulders were widened to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians. As part of the project, the on-ramps and off-ramps at the Highway 5 junction were also resurfaced.
“Logan Lake is one of the many communities around the province that has benefited from a busy highway construction season,” said Stone. “We heard from local government that this upgrade to Highway 97D was a priority for the community. This resurfacing work was also a priority for our government and was delivered through our 10-year transportation plan.”
The project was valued at $3.7 million, with the resurfacing work contracted to Peters Bros. Construction of Penticton.
“This project has greatly improved the main access road to the community of Logan Lake,” said Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart. “This will provide a smoother, safer ride for Logan Lake residents and commuters, and for the visitors who come to enjoy the region’s many outdoor activities.”
Through B.C. on the Move, the Province’s 10-year transportation plan, more than $380 million will be invested over the next three years to resurface provincial highways, with 1,000 kilometres of provincial highway resurfaced annually.
