The wildfire burning in the Gilpin area east of Grand Forks has grown to 224 hectares, but cooler temperatures and higher humidity levels are forecasted for the area.  

Today, 64 BC Wildfire Service personnel will work to establish containment lines and conduct burn-off operations to limit the spread of the fire, which is currently 25% contained. Crews will be assisted by three helicopters, three pieces of heavy equipment and airtankers as needed.

This wildfire is not currently threatening any structures or communities, but it is near Highway 3 and therefore highly visible. For information regarding current highway conditions, please visit: www.drivebc.ca
