Members of the public can expect delays on the Canal Main Forest Service Road from Sept. 7-12, 2016, to allow the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations to replace an aging culvert.
The Canal Main Forest Service Road, which runs for about 38 kilometres parallel to the Alberni Inlet south of Port Alberni, will be completely closed to all users from Sept. 12-27, 2016, to complete the work.
The existing culvert is located at the 15.4-kilometre mark of Canal Main Forest Service Road. It will be replaced with a new, engineered culvert that will enhance public safety.
Alternate access south to Nahmint and Henderson is available via the Cous/Kanyon or Stirling Arm/Gracie road systems. Due to steep road grades, these road systems may not be suitable for all vehicles. Travellers are advised that industrial traffic may be encountered and to use caution.
