Smoke from Washington State may be visible today in many areas of the Southeast Fire Centre.
The communities of Creston, Cranbrook, Trail, Rossland, Castlegar, Nelson and surrounding areas may experience smoky conditions from a 182-hectare prescribed burn occurring near Kettle Falls today, close to Colville in Washington.
Depending on prevalent winds, smoke can travel large distances. Hazy conditions may be observed in the upper reaches of the atmosphere later today.
Currently there are no fires of note burning in the Southeast Fire Centre.
To date, the Southeast Fire Centre has responded to 201 fires, which have burned 474 hectares. Of those fires, 139 have been lightning-caused and 62 are human-caused.
