Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour, and chair of the Medal of Good Citizenship Selection Committee, has issued the following statement in celebration of International Volunteer Day:
“Every day, people around the province are giving their time to help those around them. On Dec. 5, we celebrate volunteers and the difference they make in communities all over B.C.
“To mark International Volunteer Day, take a moment to recognize the members in your community who are giving back and going above and beyond what is expected of them, making the world a better and brighter place.
“To honour these exceptional individuals and shine a light on their contributions to the community, I encourage British Columbians to submit nominations for the Medal of Good Citizenship, to celebrate the generosity and acts of selflessness of these volunteers.
“This holiday season, give back and share your stories of those who are making a difference in the lives of those around them.”
