Young people of Vancouver will have an opportunity to learn the skills they will need for tomorrow’s in-demand occupations.
WorkBC’s Find Your Fit tour will be making its next stop at the Point Grey Secondary school, 5350 East Blvd., on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016.
Find Your Fit is an interactive event where individuals of all ages can learn about B.C.’s in-demand careers and test out some of the skills they would need for those occupations. Participants will also get to know career planning tools – such as Blueprint Builder and Career Trek videos – and the job resources and labour market information WorkBC.ca offers.
Parents, teachers and career counsellors may benefit, too – by discovering ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration.
The Find Your Fit event will be open to the public from 3:15 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Find Your Fit is part of B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint commitment to re-engineer education and deliver the skilled workforce needed in B.C.’s growing economy. The tour has had more than 180,000 participants so far, most recently in Surrey.
Quote:
Andrew Wilkinson, MLA for Vancouver-Quilchena –
“Providing an education for our youth that informs them of all their possible careers is an important part of the BC Jobs Plan. Find Your Fit, and programs like it, helps to build an educated and skilled workforce in B.C. that will be ready for the in-demand and high paying jobs of the future.”
