Young people of Vancouver will have an opportunity to learn the skills they will need for tomorrow’s in-demand occupations.
WorkBC’s Find Your Fit tour will be making its next stop at the Vancouver Convention Centre East, 999 Canada Place, on Dec. 9, 2016.
Find Your Fit is an interactive event where individuals of all ages can learn about B.C.’s in-demand careers and test out some of the skills they would need for those occupations. Participants will also get to know career planning tools – such as Blueprint Builder and Career Trek videos – and the job resources and labour market information WorkBC.ca offers.
Parents, teachers and career counsellors may benefit, too – by discovering ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration.
The Find Your Fit event will be open to the public from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Find Your Fit is part of B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint commitment to re-engineer education and deliver the skilled workforce needed in B.C.’s growing economy. The tour has had more than 180,000 participants so far, most recently in White Rock.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for youth to learn about what is needed to be successful in the careers they’ll choose to pursue in the future. Through B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint, and programs like Find Your Fit, we are fully engaged in providing B.C.’s youth with the tools they’ll need to be first in line for the anticipated nearly one million job openings by 2025.”
Suzanne Anton, MLA, Vancouver – Fraserview –
“Find Your Fit is an amazing program that gives youth the chance to learn what skills they’ll need for their future careers in a fun and entertaining way. B.C. is an economic leader in Canada, and we’re investing in our youth, through BC’s Skills for Jobs Blue Print and Find Your Fit, to ensure they have the skills they need to be first in line for the in-demand jobs of the future.”
Dr. Moira Stilwell, MLA, Vancouver – Langara –
“B.C.’s economy is growing, and more than three quarters of all future job openings will require some form of postsecondary. To help ensure we have a workforce ready to fill those in-demand positions, we’re re-engineering our education and training programs towards a data-driven system that focuses our investments on jobs that are in-demand.”
Sam Sullivan, MLA, Vancouver – False Creek –
“The B.C. government invests more than $7.8 billion in education and training each year from early learning programs, like Find Your Fit, all the way through to post graduate education. These programs are helping to put British Columbians first to ensure we have the educated and skilled workforce we need to keep B.C. an economic leader.”
