More than 20 people now have a safe, affordable place to live at Revelstoke Community Housing Society’s new townhouse complex, which celebrated its official opening today.

The housing complex provides 12 units of affordable housing for families and individuals with low to moderate incomes. The townhouses are comprised of four two-bedroom units and eight one-bedroom units, two of which are fully wheelchair accessible.

Located at 1014 Oscar Street, the complex is managed and operated by the Revelstoke Community Housing Society.

Quick Facts:

• The Governments of Canada and B.C provided a combined investment of nearly $794,000 through Canada-B.C. Agreement for Investment in Affordable Housing.
• The Government of B.C. also provided interim construction financing of nearly $900,000.
• The Columbia Basin Trust provided $696,000.
• The City of Revelstoke provided $57,000 in municipal reductions, a cash donation of $192,000 and the land valued at over $376,000.
• The Revelstoke Community Housing Society provided $205,000.
• Last year, the B.C. government invested over $690,000 to provide subsidized housing and rent supplements for more than 150 households in Revelstoke.
