Seniors in McBride will continue to benefit from safe, affordable housing at Beaverview Lodge, which will undergo extensive renovations and upgrades.
The Province is providing $970,000 for the work to help preserve the building and enhance the comfort for seniors who call it home.
The scope of work will include a full roof replacement, new suite windows and exterior doors, and new building envelope.
The renovations will be conducted on the exterior of the building and residents will remain living in their units. Renovations will start in early August and are estimated to be complete by the end of November 2016.
Originally built in 1975, Beaverview Lodge provides 19 self-contained affordable units for independent seniors. The building also includes common areas and an outdoor patio.
Located at 1084 5th Ave., the building is owned by the Province and operated by BC Housing.

“Beaverview Lodge has been providing safe affordable housing for McBride seniors for over 40 years. We are investing almost a million dollars in significant renovations that will extend the life of the building and ensure that seniors continue to have access to affordable housing in this community for years to come. At the same time we are having very constructive discussions with BC Housing and the community about what other seniors housing options may be needed in the years ahead.”
