Premier Christy Clark and Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski signed a Letter of Intent today committing to strengthen collaboration between the two governments and work together to pursue opportunities that are mutually beneficial for British Columbians and Yukoners.

With a focus on economic growth and diversification, British Columbia and Yukon agreed to leverage their positions of leadership and move forward on shared priorities in a co-ordinated way. The Letter of Intent also signals that a growing partnership may be formalized with a renewed British Columbia – Yukon Accord.

“Our two governments have a history of working together in areas such as skills training, trade, tourism, resources, and the environment,” said Premier Clark. “These are sectors that create jobs and support families in both British Columbia and the Yukon. I want to thank Premier Pasloski for his commitment to working to strengthen the co-operation between our two jurisdictions.”

“Our government is looking forward to working with British Columbia and Premier Clark to find new ways we can grow our economies and enter new markets,” said Premier Pasloski. “We already share several valuable partnerships, and this letter builds on our strong relationship that provides jobs and opportunities that benefit all of our citizens.”

• Identify areas of opportunity where ongoing or enhanced co-operation can benefit British Columbians and Yukoners
• Use their positions of leadership to advance shared priorities in a co-ordinated way, especially in regards to economic growth and diversification.
• Recognize that the partnership may be formalized with a renewed British Columbia – Yukon Accord.
