Premier Christy Clark has released the following statement today marking Vaisakhi:

“Over the next few days, hundreds of thousands of British Columbians will join millions of Sikhs around the globe to celebrate Vaisakhi.

“British Columbia is the proud home of the largest Vaisakhi celebrations in North America. As we celebrate the birth of the Khalsa, Vaisakhi is also a chance for families, friends, and neighbours to celebrate the proud and enduring principles of the Sikh faith.  

“Sikhs’ participation in business and community life has helped shape British Columbia into what it is today: a prosperous, vibrant, multicultural society that is the envy of the world.

“I look forward to joining thousands of British Columbians participating in Vaisakhi events over the next few weeks. To all those celebrating Vaisakhi, may the coming year bring you success, health and happiness.

“Lakh Lakh Vadai!”
