Premier Christy Clark released the following statement in recognition of Eid ul-Fitr:
“This week, Muslims throughout British Columbia joined the faithful around the world to mark Eid ul-Fitr.
“The new moon signals the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. For a lunar month, no food is consumed during daylight hours, a practice which teaches patience, self-discipline, empathy, charity and faith.
“With Eid, Ramadan comes to an end alongside friends and family, celebrating their faith, each other and the first daytime meal in a month.
“Whether they have been here for generations, or are some of our newest citizens, I wish Muslim families throughout B.C. a joyous celebration.
“Eid Mubarak!”
