The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in an avalanche east of Prince George on Jan. 23, 2016.
He was Angelo Kenneth Carpino, aged 41, of Prince George.
Mr. Carpino was one of a party of five who had travelled to the Torpy Trail riding area in the McGregor Mountain Range in the Evanoff Provincial Park, 120 kilometres east of Prince George, to go snowmobiling. At about 10 a.m. on Jan. 23, a large avalanche struck, burying Mr. Carpino.
Other members of the party were able to locate Mr. Carpino shortly afterward and dig him out, but they were unable to resuscitate him.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Carpino has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
