The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motorcycle incident near Kelowna on July 7, 2016.
He was Preston John Smith, aged 35, of Calgary, Alta.
Mr. Smith was the operator of an eastbound motorcycle that struck a deer on Highway 33E in the Kelowna suburb of Joe Rich just before 10 p.m. on July 7, 2016. As a result of this collision, the motorcycle went out of control and crossed the centre line where it was in a collision with a westbound car. Mr. Smith was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.
Mr. Smith’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service requests that the media respect their privacy during this difficult time.
