The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a house fire in Pitt Meadows on Aug. 9, 2016.
He was Christian Johan Serdar, aged 37, of Pitt Meadows.
Shortly before 5 p.m. on Aug. 9, 2016, the Pitt Meadows Fire Rescue Service was dispatched to a home in the 19100 block of Mitchell Road where a structure fire had been spotted. As firefighters were extinguishing the blaze, they found Mr. Serdar, a resident of the home, in a ground-floor bedroom. Mr. Serdar was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this incident.
The family of Mr. Serdar has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service strongly asks that media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
