The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a structure fire in Qualicum Beach on Oct. 21, 2016.
He was Patrick George Ziebart, aged 67, of Qualicum Beach.
About 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2016, neighbours noticed a fire in a building in the 100-block of Fern Road East in Qualicum Beach. This building housed an antique store and was also Mr. Ziebart’s current residence. The neighbours called 911 and the Qualicum Beach Fire Department extinguished the blaze. When they searched the structure, Mr. Ziebart was discovered inside. He died before he reached hospital.
The BC Coroners Service, fire officials and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
Mr. Ziebart’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
