A project to resurface a section of Highway 97 in the Cariboo is now underway.
“21 kilometres of highway, from the Big Bar Rest Area, north of Clinton, to Willow Drive in 70 Mile House, will be resurfaced,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “The project also includes resurfacing 1.6 km of Chasm Road from the south end junction of Highway 97 to the Chasm Mill access.”
Dawson Construction from Kamloops was awarded the $3.4 million project which is scheduled to finish by the end of September.
“This project will see a stretch of Highway 97 resurfaced, bringing safer and smoother driving conditions to motorists using this corridor,” said Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart. “It is important we keep up with these improvements, while we continue to prioritize four-laning this stretch from Cache Creek to Prince George.”
This project is part of B.C. on the Move, the B.C. government’s 10-year plan for the improvement of the province’s transportation network. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will invest almost $2.7 billion over the next three years to improve British Columbia’s transportation network.
