Two projects to improve Highway 37 near Dease Lake are now completed, announced Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone.
“Keeping our highways in top-notch condition is a priority of our B.C. on the Move 10-year transportation plan,” Stone said. “This work is an important improvement to Highway 37, used by visitors coming to enjoy the Northwest’s many outdoor recreational opportunities, as well as by industrial traffic in the region.”
Starting 14 kilometres north of Dease Lake, Highway 37 was seal coated between Serpentine Creek and Sawmill Point, a distance of 26 kilometres. The work included the addition of crushed gravel to strengthen the road base, along with a double application of seal coat for dust suppression and a smoother ride.
Approximately 100 kilometres south of Dease Lake, Highway 37 was seal coated and the road base was strengthened between the Burrage Airstrip and Ealue Lake, a distance of approximately 60 kilometres.
Contracts for both projects totalling $6.67 million were awarded to White Bear Industries of Terrace.
Through B.C. on the Move, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will invest almost $2.7 billion over the next three years to improve British Columbia’s transportation network.
