Motorists will see smoother roads for a section of Highway 97 in the Cariboo, now that a project to resurface 21 kilometres of this highway is fully complete.
“This resurfacing project saw 21 kilometres of road resurfaced from the Big Bar Rest Area outside Clinton to Willow Drive in 70 Mile House,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “The project also included resurfacing 1.6 km of Chasm Road from the south end junction of Highway 97 to the Chasm Mill access.”
Dawson Construction from Kelowna was awarded the $3.4 million project.
“Highway 97 is a critical link in the province’s road inventory,” said Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart. “It is important we keep up with these improvements, while we continue to prioritize four-laning the Cariboo Connector from Cache Creek to Prince George.”
This project is part of B.C. on the Move, the B.C. government’s 10-year plan for the improvement of the province’s transportation network. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will invest almost $2.7 billion over the next three years to improve British Columbia’s transportation network.
