Several repaving projects, including the resurfacing of over 60 kilometres of Highway 23N, have now wrapped up in the Revelstoke area.

“Over 60 kilometres of Highway 23N that winds along the Columbia Lake Reservoir is now resurfaced, bringing smoother roads for the industrial and recreational traffic that frequent this road,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “As part of this project, an additional five kilometres of resurfacing is also complete on local area side roads.”

“Our government is committed to ensuring the safe and efficient movement of commercial traffic, in order to keep our economy moving and to get our goods to market faster,” said MLA for Kootenay East Bill Bennett.

Two other projects have also wrapped up south of Revelstoke and in Golden. A 48-kilometre section of Highway 23 is now seal-coated and rehabilitated, from the Shelter Bay Ferry Terminal to the Big Eddy underpass. In Golden, 9.4 kilometres of Highway 1 from Forde Station to Moberly Branch Road is resurfaced. In addition, 4.3 kilometres of area side roads in the Blaeberry area, using recycled asphalt, is complete.

B.C. on the Move is government’s 10-year plan for the improvement of the province’s transportation network. Over the next three years, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will invest up to $2.7 billion to improve B.C.’s transportation network.
