Safety improvements are now underway for the Summit Drive/Notre Dame Drive exit ramp in Kamloops, said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone.
“Motorists trying to exit Highway 1 at exit 370 to access the Thompson Rivers University, shops and restaurants often find the off-ramp at capacity,” said Stone. “This $1.1-million project will improve safety and efficiency by adding a dedicated right turn lane to the off-ramp at Summit Drive, improving mobility for motorists exiting off of Highway 1, as well as creating safer conditions for motorists travelling through Kamloops.”
Once completed, motorists exiting Highway 1 at Summit Drive will have access to three lanes: one lane for traffic going straight through the intersection onto Notre Dame, and a dedicated left-turn lane as well as a dedicated right-turn lane.
The project will be delivered by local Kamloops contractors and is set to wrap up in the spring of 2017.
