Work is now finished on improvements to 29 kilometres of Squilax-Anglemont Road from Shuswap Lake Provincial Park to St. Ives Road.
“Keeping provincial highways, bridges and side roads in good condition is essential for a safe and reliable transportation network,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “This is particularly important on such a popular tourist route, and local residents will also benefit from the resurfacing improvements.”
Okanagan Aggregates Ltd. of Armstrong was awarded a $2.7-million contract for the work. Construction began after the busy summer tourist season and is now completed.
“Maintaining the quality of B.C. roads are a priority, as it can help reduce the stress of driving and keep families safe,” said Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo. “The repaved section of this highway will ensure that road conditions are optimal for the coming 2017 tourist season and beyond.”
This project is part of B.C. on the Move, the Province’s 10-year plan for the improvement of the province’s transportation network.
