A project to improve the safety of the Fort Steele Bridge on Highway 93/95 near Cranbrook is now complete.
“This enhancement project saw a fresh coat of paint added to some parts of the structure to protect against corrosion and help extend the service life of the bridge,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “Repairing and replacing bridges are key priorities in B.C. on the Move, the province’s 10-year transportation plan.”
“This is an important project for people in our region because the rehabilitation work will result in a safer and more reliable structure for many years to come,” said Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett.
This $884,000 project was awarded to Seismic 2000 Construction Ltd. from Aldergrove and the rehabilitation project’s design and engineering was undertaken by McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd.
