Drivers are advised that crews are temporarily closing the Alex Fraser Bridge for public safety reasons as snow and ice have been observed shedding from the outside cables into both traveling lanes.
This full bridge closure is necessary to protect the travelling public, due to recent snowfall and ice build-up on the cables, along with increased winds.
At this time, it’s not known how long the bridge closure duration will be, but ministry officials are hopeful it will reopen by early this afternoon.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
All travellers are reminded to obey signs and watch for traffic control personnel.
Motorists are reminded to drive to the conditions, by slowing down, using extra caution and increasing following distance.
