Drivers are advised that lane closures have gone into effect on the Alex Fraser Bridge for public safety reasons.
The outside lane in each direction has been closed on the bridge, to protect the travelling public, due to snow buildup on the cables and warming temperatures.
There is an increased likelihood that snow or ice may shed from the cables into the lanes adjacent to the cables, therefore, the ministry is closing the outside lane in each direction as a precaution.
Motorists should expect significant queues and are encouraged to use an alternative route.
All travellers are reminded to obey signs and watch for traffic control personnel.
Should conditions worsen, additional lane closures or a full closure may be necessary for the safety of the travelling public.
Motorists are reminded to drive to the conditions, by slowing down, using extra caution and increasing following distance.
