WorkBC’s Find Your Fit Tour will be in Prince Rupert at Prince Rupert Middle school on Tuesday, Nov. 14 and open to the public from 3:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“B.C.’s economy needs over 900,000 skilled workers over the next 10 years, and B.C.’s talented youth will help us meet that challenge,” said Advanced Education, Skills and Training Minister Melanie Mark. “The Find Your Fit Tour will give students in Prince Rupert hands-on experience in well-paying careers that will support their future and B.C.’s.”
The Find Your Fit Tour stop in Prince Rupert is a great opportunity for students to get an insider’s look at a range of careers, including the skilled trades such as carpenters, electricians and heavy-duty equipment mechanics needed in the North Coast region.
WorkBC’s Find Your Fit is a hands-on experience that allows participants to explore a variety of careers. It also provides valuable information about what jobs will be in high-demand by employers in the region and throughout British Columbia.
Industries, such as tourism, tech and health care will need a broad range of skilled British Columbians. The Find Your Fit Tour stop in Prince Rupert is a unique opportunity to get an insight into careers that are in demand by industries that are important to building a strong, sustainable and innovative economy for the 21st century that works for everyone.
“Students and their parents are faced with a range of education and career choices,” said Jennifer Rice, MLA for North Coast. “Find Your Fit gives our students the hands-on experience and information they need to make informed decisions that will help them find their place in our strong, sustainable and innovative economy.”
The Find Your Fit Tour builds on the government commitment to provide British Columbians with the services they need by providing them the information to help them make decisions about education and training. The tour will make its way throughout the province in the coming months.
