Environment and Climate Change Strategy Minister George Heyman has issued the following statement today with respect to BC Rivers Day this coming Sunday:
“The 37th annual BC Rivers Day will be celebrated on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017. This year, BC Rivers Day coincides with World Rivers Day. I want to thank and congratulate the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC for spearheading this movement and for building public awareness about B.C.’s vital waterways.”
“British Columbians are looking to their government to protect the environment and take meaningful action on climate change, as we build a sustainable economy for the future. To this end, our government is working to strengthen our environmental processes; to make sure they are transparent, science-based, uphold the highest environmental standards and reflect the best interests of British Columbians. As we approach BC Rivers Day, I want to assure you that, above all, we will restore public confidence in government’s ability and intention to protect our water, land and air.”
“On Sunday, community organizations will be hosting BC Rivers Day events all around the province to celebrate and protect our irreplaceable and majestic rivers. I encourage everyone to participate.”
