The Province will close the black bear hunting season on Haida Gwaii at midnight on Sunday, June 4, 2017.
Hunters are allowed to harvest a total of four black bears during the season. Once the quota is reached, the Province provides 72 hours' notice in advance of the season closure.
The closure covers Wildlife Management Units 6-12 and 6-13, and is in effect until the spring 2018 hunting season opens.
