The public is urged to take extra care and caution near the Okanagan River due to high water levels.
Residents and visitors are reminded that the Okanagan River’s deep and fast-flowing current requires heightened safety awareness and precaution as river levels remain higher than normal.
Adults are urged to keep children and pets under close supervision and well away from the river banks. If going into the river, take precautionary measures such as using a safe watercraft and wearing a personal flotation device.
Okanagan Lake levels remain higher than normal. As water levels recede, flows into the Okanagan River are higher and faster than in past years.
Residents and visitors should be aware that river flows between Okanagan Lake and Osoyoos Lake still remain high. Caution should be exercised as levels may remain above normal throughout the summer.
