People living in the Williams Lake area can expect to see columns of smoke rising from within the Wildwood wildfire today and in the coming days.

These columns of smoke are originating from hotspots within the fire’s perimeter and they become more visible with a rise in temperature and wind activity. These smoke columns are expected to be visible over the next few weeks.

Firefighting crews are monitoring hot spots within the Wildwood fire and will continue to action them as necessary. This fire is 20% contained and continues to remain within the current perimeter.

Infrared scanning of this fire is being done daily to identify any additional hot spots along the edges of the fire nearest communities.
