Teresa Wat, Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism, issued this statement today:
“On behalf of the Province of British Columbia, it gives me great pleasure to recognize Canadian Multiculturalism Day.
“This is a time to celebrate and embrace our diversity, and acknowledge the many contributions of various multicultural groups that make this country and our province great.
“British Columbia welcomes nearly 40,000 immigrants annually, making it the most ethnically diverse province in Canada.
“Inclusiveness and mutual respect are the cornerstones of multiculturalism and crucial to a rich multicultural society and strong communities.
“I hope all British Columbians will take a moment to join friends and neighbours in celebration of diversity on Canadian Multiculturalism Day.”
