Deputy Premier and Minister of Natural Gas Development Rich Coleman has issued the following statement about the Huu-ay-aht First Nations vote supporting Sarita LNG:
“The Province of British Columbia welcomes today’s news that the Huu-ay-aht First Nations have approved the first co-management development arrangement for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility in our province.
“This development follows a significant vote of support by the Huu-ay-aht citizens for the Sarita LNG facility proposed by Steelhead LNG. It showcases the benefits of partnerships with First Nations.
“This another significant step toward securing a strong, diversified clean natural gas export industry in British Columbia. We look forward to working with the Huu-ay-aht First Nations and Steelhead LNG as the project moves forward.”
