The following is a revised version:
Premier Christy Clark has issued the following statement on Eid al-Fitr:
"Tonight, Muslims in British Columbia and around the globe celebrate Eid al-Fitr, or the Feast of the Sacrifice, that marks the end of Ramadan.
"Friends, families and communities celebrate with special meals, prayers and acts of charity.
"Eid al-Fitr and those who celebrate it are another example of the diversity that makes us the envy of the world - peoples from different backgrounds and beliefs, living and thriving in peace.
"On behalf of all British Columbians, I wish everyone celebrating Eid al-Fitr a happy and healthy festival.
"Eid Mubarak."
