Premier John Horgan released the following statement celebrating Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur:
“As Jewish communities around British Columbia look forward to the beginning of the Jewish High Holidays Wednesday night, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all those celebrating the New Year.
“Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are a time of celebration and reflection for Jewish communities around the world. Rosh Hashanah, which occurs on the first and second days of the Jewish month of Tishrei, marks the beginning of the Days of Awe.
“The High Holidays represent a chance to take stock of the past year and look forward to the coming year with renewed purpose. In that spirit, on behalf of the government of British Columbia I wish you and your families a sweet year full of health, happiness, and peace.
“Shana Tova Umetukah!”
