Premier John Horgan has issued the following statement on Yalda:

“Tonight, Iranian families in British Columbia and around the world will gather to celebrate Yalda, the night of the solstice.

“Yalda is an ancient celebration that marks the longest night of the year, the beginning of winter and the end of darkness as the days begin to grow longer.

“We are reminded to look forward to a brighter future and to cherish the people we love the most.

“To everyone celebrating Yalda, I wish you a wonderful night and brighter days for you, your family, and all British Columbians.

“Shab-e Yalda Mobarak.”
