Ministry crews are preparing to re-open Highway 5 (Coquihalla) by 2 p.m. today. In anticipation of this, the ministry wants to ensure motorists are aware of conditions and:
- Drive with extreme caution and drive to conditions on the Coquihalla.
- Watch for pooling water and compact snow in some sections.
- Stay below 80 kilometres per hour keeping speed appropriate for conditions.
- Watch for disabled vehicles and make way for emergency, maintenance and commercial vehicle safety and enforcement (CVSE) vehicles.
- No vehicle should ever pass a working snowplow.
Motorists are reminded to obey direction from traffic control personnel, RCMP and CVSE who will be on site.
These driving measures are in place for the Coquihalla highway for your safety. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
